SILVER SPRING, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating an attempted robbery and assault of a flower vendor that occurred Sunday afternoon in Montgomery County. The incident took place on August 18, 2024, shortly after 3 p.m. on the exit ramp from Interstate 495 East to Route 650 South.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 64-year-old woman was selling flowers along the roadside when she was approached by the occupants of an SUV. The driver of the vehicle, which was stopped in traffic, called her over under the pretense of purchasing flowers. As the woman approached, one of the occupants reportedly grabbed her purse.
As the SUV sped away, the victim was briefly dragged and fell with the purse still attached to her. She was transported to Holy Cross Hospital for treatment of her injuries and was later released.
The SUV involved in the incident is described as a darker-colored vehicle with District of Columbia license plates. Authorities believe it was occupied by at least two Black males, one of whom was wearing a ski mask. The vehicle was last seen heading southbound on Route 650.
A “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) alert has been issued to both the Montgomery County Police Department and the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. The Montgomery County Police Department is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

- New York City Police Seek Public’s Help in Locating Missing Brooklyn Teen
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 15-year-old girl from Brooklyn. Nadia Hannah, who resides at 787 East 46th Street within the confines of the 67th Precinct, was last seen on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
According to police reports, Hannah was last observed leaving her residence at approximately 3:56 p.m. She is described as a Black female, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing around 120 pounds, with brown eyes and a dark complexion.
At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a white t-shirt, blue pants, and black Crocs.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding Nadia Hannah’s whereabouts to contact the NYPD immediately.
- Teen Arrested In Baltimore For Handgun Possession
Baltimore, Md. — An investigation by Police in Baltimore led to the arrest of a teenager on Sunday night.
On August 18, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Southeast District Action Team officers conducted an investigation in the 200 block of North Washington Street, leading to the arrest of a 17-year-old male.
During the investigation, officers seized a loaded handgun from the juvenile.
The 17-year-old was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged as an adult.
