You’re a finalist in the Sustainability Awards 2024. Congratulations! To start off, could you summarize your entry in less than 50 words?
SprayPET Revolution redefines aerosol technology with its 100% polymer, metal-free design, ensuring full recyclability and a lower carbon footprint than aluminium. Featuring an all-polymer valve for efficient recycling separation, this aerosol solution combines innovation with eco-consciousness and has gained approvals from EPBP, APR and CITEO for its versatile, green-friendly attributes.
Why do you think the judges were impressed with your entry? Tell us about what is innovative about your project and/or about its impact on packaging sustainability.
SprayPET Revolution is the first 100% polymer, metal-free aerosol container which eliminates contamination in PET recycling streams, highlighting our commitment to both innovation and environmental responsibility. Its innovative valve design, crafted from low molecular density polymers, not only matches but often surpasses traditional aerosol performance.
By significantly reducing the carbon footprint compared to aluminium and securing prestigious endorsements from various regulatory organizations, SprayPET Revolution is setting a new standard in sustainable packaging – proof that smart design can truly make a difference.
Finally, can you tell us about the ongoing development of your project, e.g. how your innovation/initiative has been received by the industry, or what the next steps are in commercialization/product development?
Our ongoing development of SprayPET Revolution has garnered significant industry interest and positive feedback. Through a series of extensive trials, we have confirmed its durability for high-volume production, including versatile options like dip tube and bag-on-bottle designs, all validated for recyclability and performance by EPBP, APR and CITEO.
As we look toward the future, we continue to scale up production capabilities and broaden our market reach. We are also pursuing strategic partnerships and exploring additional applications to maximize our technology’s design flexibility and sustainability advantages, aiming to accelerate the transition to more eco-friendly packaging solutions across the industry.
The winners of the Sustainability Awards 2024 will be announced at the Sustainable Packaging Summit, taking place in Amsterdam on 12-13 November. The Summit mobilizes leaders of the FMCG value chain, policymakers, NGOs, recyclers and investors to collaborate, remove barriers and identify opportunities on the road to sustainable transformation.
