A total of 28 Special Technology Zones have been notified across Pakistan, with a major project now in progress for Islamabad.
In this regard, a meeting was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters under the chairmanship of CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa.
According to the briefing, 140 acres of land have been allocated in Islamabad for the establishment of a Special Technology Zone. Officials informed that the zone will host both national and international companies as well as startups working in modern technology sectors, who will set up their offices and production facilities at the site.
The CDA was presented with a master plan for the proposed site, which includes a dedicated technology zone, high-tech production facilities, commercial areas, and residential spaces. The initiative is being designed to accommodate a wide range of technology-driven companies and provide them with the necessary infrastructure to operate.
Officials also stated that companies operating within the zone will benefit from various incentives, including tax and duty exemptions. During the meeting, it was agreed to establish a joint working group between CDA and STZA. The group will work to make the project financially viable and ensure its timely implementation.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized that the financial aspects of the project should be thoroughly examined to develop a sustainable model. He said the initiative would not only transform Islamabad into a technology hub but also create significant employment opportunities. Randhawa reaffirmed that CDA would benefit from STZA’s technical expertise and experience to ensure the success of the project.
The meeting was attended by Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) Executive Director Amir Saleemi, and senior CDA officials.
