Boston City Council could vote as early as next week on a revised version of a proposal to shift the burden of the city’s property taxes away from homeowners and onto commercial property owners.
The new proposal filed by Mayor Michelle Wu this week would shorten the duration of the change and lower the percentage of the tax levy that would fall to commercial property owners. It is the result of a compromise between the mayor’s office and local business groups, which had strongly opposed the original plan.
