We are getting to the latter stages of women’s team pursuit qualifying, and Australia is fourth on times after eight runs.
Italy hit the front with a 4:07.579, but the New Zealand team of Ally Wollaston, Bryona Botha, Emily Shearman and Nicole Shields smashed it, holding their speed the whole way through to set a new mark of 4:04.679.
That was rather rapid!
The United States team looked on course to go faster, but they were not as fast in the second half of the 4000m, and they ended up second with 4:05.328.
Great Britain (4:06.710) were in a similar spot, unable to match the New Zealanders.
Riding last, Germany dropped out of medal contention, finishing in 4:08.313.
So Australia will race against Germany for fifth and sixth.
Great Britain will face Italy for the bronze medal, and New Zealand and United States will fight it out for the gold.
