MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – A three-week investigation into a number of copper wire thefts netted one arrest and Manitowoc County authorities are investigating if the suspect had accomplices.
The sheriff’s office says it arrested Mark Plagemann, of the town of Schleswig, last Wednesday after more than $30,000 worth of copper wire was stolen from a business.
According to the sheriff‘s office, Plagemann is charged with theft, trespassing, criminal damage to property, and possession of burglary tools, and also for violating probation. The charges are enhanced for being a habitual criminal, the sheriff’s office said, which could mean more time behind bars if Plagemann is convicted.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff‘s Office is looking for tips that could lead to the arrest of any other person or persons involved in the thefts. Call Crime Stoppers at (920) 683-4466 or use the P3 Tips mobile app to remain anonymous. You could be eligible for a $500 reward.
