There are a lot of side quests in Hollow Knight: Silksongfrom simple little fetch quests, to ones where you’ll hunt down specific enemies. Each one has its own complexity, but the Silver Bells side quest will give everyone a reason to scratch their heads.
While it may seem fairly simple in the beginning, some things will make this quest a bit annoying to complete. Once you’ve got an understanding of how the quest itself works, though, it should be as easy as pie.
This guide will cover how to start the quest, how to find the bells, and, of course, what you’ll get as a reward. Now let’s get to finding these silver bells, even though it isn’t Christmastime in the city.
How to Start the Silver Bells Side Quest
If you’re looking to begin this quest, you’ll need to defeat the Widow boss in Bellhart before you have access to this side quest. Once you’ve beaten Widow and freed Bellhart from its unfortunate fate, you’ll unlock the quest board in town.
Here you’ll find a few quests, including the one for the Silver Bells. It gives you a small hint about where you’ll be going to find these bells, but it isn’t entirely helpful.
Where to Find the Silver Bells
To find the Silver Bells, you’ll need to head down to the Bellhart bellvein, the fast travel station. Once you’ve reached the spot where you summoned the Bell Beast, head to the right and don’t stop until you pass through a wall into an area lined entirely with bells.
You’ll drop into this area that you can now explore freely, thanks to the Cling Grip skill you should’ve acquired. It’s basically one huge square that you’ll travel through, breaking open entrances and pathways back to the top as you delve further down.
Below you’ll find a list of all the locations of the bells, as well as some images to help you locate them. The bells will not always spawn each time you pass their location, so you’ll likely need to run through a few times to find all eight.
- The first one you’ll find is on the second level from the top after fighting an enemy. There will be a blockade above it that you can break for a shortcut back to the top.
- After dropping down another level, through the right side entrance with the large bell bug, you’ll find one on the floor next to a path leading upward.
- You’ll keep following the path and break any barriers in your way. Once you drop back down into The Marrow, you can climb back up. On that level across the gap, you’ll find another one.
- The next one is at the very top of the bellvein. On the top level, in the center, is where it should spawn.
- This one spawned in the same spot as the second.
- Same spawn as number four.
- Same spawn as number one.
- From the top-level, head to the left and drop down to the level above the spike trap on the left side. In the alcove, one should spawn.
The locations on the map are not exact and serve more as a guideline for where they should be.
This image should also help you to figure out where all the spawns are. Keep in mind, these spawns are random and may or may not trigger when you walk by them, or they may spawn in different locations for each person.
The best thing to do is run through each level of the bellvein one by one before reaching an exit, then repeat until all eight are found.
Silver Bells Quest Rewards
You won’t get a whole awful lot for completing this quest, but compared to some others, it is rather easy. You’ll at least walk away with rosary beads strung together; they can’t be lost, and contain 120 beads that you can break apart and spend whenever you please.
