Ozzy Osbourne certainly received a fitting tribute at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards as Aerosmith and Yungblud united for a supergroup performance. The Black Sabbath icon died aged 76 in July, just 17 days after he performed on stage for a final time.

He had given one last performance at his beloved Villa Park in Birmingham, where he was joined by his pals across rock music for an epic send off show. Just weeks later, Aerosmith and Yungblud have come together once again to pay tribute to Ozzy.

Steven Tyler and Joe Perry gave a moving tribute to the Prince of Darkness alongside friend and protege of Ozzy, Yungblud and Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. Just before they took to the stage, a moving montage featuring Ozzy’s beloved children Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Jessica was shown.

They all wore Ozzy t-shirts as they shared touching memories of their famous dad. Tyler, who was forced to stop touring following a vocal cord injury two years ago, decided to return to the stage in memory of Ozzy.

The former American Idol judge suffered a fractured larynx, which is a break in the cartilage of the structure also known as the ‘voice box’. Yungblud then appeared with a rendition of Ozzy’s All Aboard call.

He then went into Black Sabbath’s Changes and Crazy Train before being joined by Tyler and Perry to perform Mama, I’m Coming Home. Guitarist Nuno admitted the tribute meant “everything” to him.

The rock star told Page Six: “As a guitarist coming up listening to rock and metal, he was a godfather to us. This guy’s affected culture in a way and touched everybody in so many different ways.”

This year’s VMAs were held in New York, with rapper and actor LL Cool J hosting the event. Doja Cat, Mariah Carey, Jelly Roll, Sabrina Carpenter, Post Malone, Tate McRae and J Balvin all performed at the show.

Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Richard Harrison, shared a touching social media post following Ozzy’s death. He said: “I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage.”

He shared a series of candid photos of himself chatting and smiling alongside the music icon. Yungblud wrote in an emotional caption: “I didn’t think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room.

“But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t. I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage.

“Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own. You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough.

“You took us on your adventure – an adventure that started it all. I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.”
