    Maya Jama has revealed she will be retuning to her radio hosting roots after a ‘very special’ person convinced her to come back for a one-off gig.

    The Love Island presenter, 31, uses to host her Radio 1’s Greatest Hits on Saturdays and co-presented every Friday with Scott Mills and Chris Stark from 2018 until 2020 when she left to pursue other opportunities.

    Yet on Tuesday the star teased fans with her return to radio as she took to Instagram with a short clip of her behind the mic at Rinse FM. 

    She penned: ‘Someone very special who I’m a big fan of has got me out of radio retirement for a one of show at Rinse FM. Can’t wait for you to hear.’

    The media personality shared a short clip of herself in the radio booth, looking effortlessly chic in a black long-sleeved top, however she didn’t reveal the identity of the ‘someone special’. 

    Maya left Radio 1 in May 2020, taking to social media at the time she told her loyal followers: ‘My lovees. I’ve made the very difficult decision not to continue my Radio 1 contract from June.

    ‘As you know I have been juggling & There are a lot of exciting commitments happening that would mean I’m not able to dedicate the time needed to my weekly radio show. I’ve loved every moment of my time at Radio 1.

    ‘I would like to thank the team for their hard work and friendship during the last two years. It’s been a JOURNEY, Thanks to all you cuties that tuned into the show…

    ‘Every weekend, it was so great to hear that we have been getting the largest proportion of under 35s tuning in for our on-demand show on BBC Sounds. So we are going out with a bang! Love youuuuu listeners.’

    Maya got her biggest gig to date when she was announced as the new presenter of Love Island in October 2022, replacing Laura Whitmore. 

    She said in a statement at the time: ‘I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows! I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all of the Islanders.’ 

    While her career goes from strength to strength, with a booming beauty company and a rumoured role in a Netflix show on the horizon, she has also launched a new business.

    Maya is reportedly set to invest in properties to rent out as she works to secure her future.

    She has made a major career pivot as she follows in the footsteps of Ed Sheeran and Daniel Radcliffe to grow her bank balance.

    Singer Ed is said to have a £70million property portfolio which even includes a £8.25million office in the heart of London’s Soho.

    A source told The Sun: ‘Maya is a shrewd businesswoman and, while her career is going stellar, she’s not going to be wasting her hard-earned cash.’

    They added: ‘She’s joining celebs like Ed Sheeran and Daniel Radcliffe by buying up properties to rent out.

    ‘It’s a clever way to invest her money as it’ll not only bring her a decent return but will see her bank balance grow over time.’

    The source went on to reveal that her new company was named Penny Property Holdings.
