Axis Mobile Digital Rupee Mobile App Upgrade News: Axis Bank’s mobile app, Axis Mobile Digital Rupee, will not be available from Friday to Sunday. According to an SMS notification received by several Axis Bank customers, the mobile app is undergoing “a major change”, due to which it will not be available from April 18 to April 20. The private sector lender has requested the customers to redeem and transfer their funds to their mapped savings bank accounts in order to avoid any inconvenience.
The SMS message received by the said customers reads: “Axis Mobile Digital Rupee App is undergoing a major change. Due to this, the app will not be available from 18-04-25 to 20-04-25. Please redeem & transfer your money to the mapped savings account to avoid any inconvenience – Axis Bank.”
What is digital rupee?
The digital rupee is a central bank digital currency (CBDC) issued by the RBI in a digital form.
It is the same and can be used just like a sovereign currency and is exchangeable in lieu of existing currency.
Axis Bank digital rupee app downtime
Informing its customers about a scheduled upgrade for the app, Axis Bank has said that its digital rupee platform will be temporarily unavailable for the three-day period.
According to the SMS alert received by some of the bank’s customers, the Axis Money Digital Rupee app will be offline from Friday, April 18, through Sunday, April 20.
What is the Axis Money Digital Rupee app used for?
The bank’s mobile app enables its customers to manage their CBDC wallets.
During the maintenance window, users will not be able to access their wallet or perform any transactions through the app.
The announcement comes at a time when the country is pushing towards CBDC adoption.
Users are encouraged to take timely action and stay updated through official Axis Bank communication channels for any further instructions regarding the app upgrade.
How to register for Axis Bank’s Digital Rupee wallet
- The bank has listed the following steps for users to register for the app:
- The user downloads the app.
- The user chooses the SIM card linked to their Axis Bank savings account.
- The user picks their login method: either a PIN, a pattern, or a fingerprint or face-based ID.
- The user creates a six-digit wallet PIN for added security.
- The user links their Axis Bank savings account by selecting it and then completing a quick KYC.
- The user verifies their account using the last six digits of their debit card along with the expiry date.
