Teaching to begin by July 2026
Yogi directed officials to make “war-level efforts” to start teaching and academic activities at the university by the July 2026 session. He instructed that the construction work should be completed ahead of the scheduled October 2026 deadline to ensure admissions and regular classes can start on time.
A milestone project for eastern Uttar Pradesh
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Yogi Adityanath said the Mahatma Buddha Agricultural and Technology University will be a major achievement for Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Built in the name of Mahatma Buddha, the institution aims to bring educational, agricultural, and technological growth to the region.
Boost to farmers and youth employment
The Chief Minister said that Kushinagar and its surrounding areas are agriculturally rich, with fertile land and ample water resources. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the region has also gained better connectivity. He said the university will act as a milestone for farmers’ prosperity, horticulture development, and sugarcane farming, while creating new job opportunities for youth.

Double-engine government’s gift to farmers
Calling it a “gift from the double-engine government,” Yogi said the university will serve as a medium to empower farmers and strengthen the rural economy. He emphasized that the project reflects the government’s commitment to combining modern technology with traditional farming to boost productivity.
Senior leaders present during inspection
During his visit, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, MP Vijay Kumar Dubey and several local MLAs accompanied the Chief Minister. The inspection followed Yogi’s visit to pay tribute to Buddhist monk Bhante Gyaneshwar earlier in the day.
