Taking place at Tichborne Park on Saturday, September 6, the event had hundreds of attractions and stalls for visitors to enjoy, as well as produce for sale and arena shows.
The day started at 8.30 am and went on until 6 pm as people got to watch show jumping, dog displays, a sheep handling competition and plenty of other animals to look at and engage with.
With the sun shining, there was plenty of ice cream vans around alongside fresh meat stands and other freshly made food options.
There was a spectacular display of Equine Extreme Sport Horseboarding, which involved a horse and rider pulling a person along who stood on a skateboard. The crowd loved it, and it was quite the entertainment.
Callum Staton and James Moreton with James’s boys, Tom and William (Image: Newsquest) James Moreton brought his business, JM Agricultural Engineering, to the show for the third year in a row and said it is a fantastic place for businesses like his.
“This show is always a great place to come. We have been very lucky with the weather this year, and we are located right by the entrance, so people see us straight away, which is great,” James said.
“We are a family business based in Chichester that repairs and maintains all types of agricultural machinery. This show brings families and people of all ages along who see us and then later on might do business with us, so it is a great day for business.
James’s two sons, Tom, 4 and William, 7, were there giving a helping hand, and James said he would love to get them involved in the business one day.
Callum Staton works with James, but has been at the Alresford Show for the past nine years with a different company.
He said: “Every year I come to the show, it is a fantastic experience because there are so many like-minded people that you get to talk to.
“The show has definitely grown over the years, and now there are people of all ages taking part, which is great.”
Sam Tait from Alresford Rugby Club (Image: Newsquest) Alresford Rugby Club was also in attendance, and current player Sam Tait was at the show for the first time.
Sam said: “I have been a coach at the club for a long time, but this year I have been roped in to playing.
“An event like this is so cool to be a part of because not only is it a great way to spread the word about our club, but also it’s just a lot of fun, especially in this weather.
“I didn’t really know what to expect from this event, but I was surprised by the size of it and all of the different things going on.”
Lynnie and Ian Hutchinson (Image: Newsquest) Couple Ian and Lynnie Hutchinson from Winchester were also at the show for the first time, and they were enjoying a lovely walk in the sun.
Ian said: “There is so much to do here, and we have had a walk around looking at all of the stalls and animals.
“It is a lovely day out and really well put on.”
The show was a great success and made up for the horrible rain and mud from last year.
