In what he calls his ‘most emotional sculpture yet’, Sandwell metal artist Luke Perry has unveiled his latest work, ‘Fighting from Home‘, which looks to pay respect to those who remained at home during the First and Second World Wars.
The sculpture depicts an anchor maker standing in front of a real AC-14 ‘Admiralty Class’ ship anchor, and was designed to show the importance of those British residents who filled vital roles that supported front-line efforts in both world wars.

Luke called the piece his ‘most emotional yet’, using his own personal family experience of survivor’s guilt to give the sculpture a ‘real sense of emotion’.
He said: “It’s a completely unspoken bit of history. It’s within everyone’s interest to celebrate our frontline soldiers. Those who put their lives on the line. But those who remained at home very rarely get celebrated.
