Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee donates Rs 45 lakh to CM relief fund for Maharashtra’s flash flood affected areas

Navi Mumbai: The Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Vashi donated Rs 45 lakh to the Chief Minister Relief Fund to support families affected by recent flash floods in Maharashtra. The devastating floods impacted various parts of the state, causing widespread damage to crops and property. Representatives from different market yards within APMC met CM Devendra Fadnavis and personally handed over the cheques meant for relief efforts.A significant portion of the donation came from the APMC fruits market, which contributed Rs 28 lakh. The vegetable market yard raised Rs 8.1 lakh, while the grain market contributed Rs 5 lakh. Additionally, the onion and potato market yard collected Rs 3.44 lakh. Sanjay Pansare, director of the APMC fruit market, stated that all stakeholders in the market yard came together to help flood-affected families across Maharashtra. He also mentioned that grain market traders provided dry food packets worth several lakhs to the flood-hit areas through proper channels.“Our delegation met the chief minister and handed over the cheques to him. We wish we could collect more resources,” said Pansare. The collective effort highlights the solidarity and sense of responsibility among the trading community during times of crisis. Meanwhile, the govt announced a relief package of Rs 36,000 crore for farmers affected by the floods.According to the CM, 29 out of the state’s 36 districts and 253 talukas were hit by heavy and unseasonal rains. Many farmers lost their yet-to-harvest crops due to the extended monsoon. A farmer from Barsi, Pandurang Gulve, shared that they incurred huge losses this year, leading to increasing debt.
