MO State Fair continues to have agriculture at the core
This year’s Missouri State Fair theme is “Summer’s Best Story.”
State fair director Jason Moore tells Brownfield, “You’re certainly going to leave with a story, maybe they’re not always the best stories, we’re going to just make sure this year they are really good stories.”
Chris Chinn, Missouri’s Director of Agriculture says agriculture is still the focus of the fair.
“It truly is Missouri agriculture community largest family reunion of the year. Many friends don’t see each other all year long, but when they come to compete against each other in livestock shows it’s fun competition.”
Moore says there have been some additions to the fair and exhibitor numbers are holding steady.
“We’ve got a few new shows out there that are going to change up some of those (exhibitor numbers) with a draft horse pony show that we haven’t historically had in the past so (I am) looking forward to seeing how those new shows kick off, but I think we’re right on track to the numbers we’re used to seeing.”
He says other additions are an open boer goat show and the Best of Missouri commodity sale.
The Missouri State Fair kicks off August 8th in Sedalia. Find more about 2024 updates here.
