Show Some Love and Support for Metal Mack
BitBeamCannon has kicked off a lively Kickstarter campaign for its next retro adventure titled Metal Mack, a project aimed at the Mega Drive and Genesis, Neo Geo, and Steam. Support poured in quickly, and the team reached its opening funding target in under a day, which encouraged the developers to chase a fresh set of stretch goals. The game draws inspiration from the familiar old-school icons, though this new lead avoids any familiar blue outfit and wanders through stages that gently poke fun at well-known gaming worlds.

The team is shaping Metal Mack as a flexible run-and-gun experience with branching mechanics that break away from the usual formula associated with its source of parody. Players earn currency by taking down mechanical foes and their clever robotic bosses. This, in turn, feeds an upgrade system that opens paths toward various special abilities. Corey from BitBeamCannon shared that his love for classic action games drove this idea. He felt that many modern homages simply tried to mirror the original blueprint without adding personality. This led him to create humorous animated skits featuring a playful parody character. The response to those skits encouraged him to grow the concept into a complete game.
Metal Mack will move through traditional run-and-gun levels while also offering swift shmup sections. There will be light minigames and a parade of comedic cutscenes. All of it is designed to echo the energetic spirit of old cartridge era adventures. Even a cheat code system makes a return, offering hidden rewards or amusing extras for players who enjoy exploring.
