Gold and silver prices surged on January 05 after the US military captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Silver was trading at $75 per ounce at the International spot market, while gold traded at $4,401 per ounce with a gain of 1.91 per cent.
US-Venezuela Conflict, Gold and Silver Rates Today, January 05: Gold and silver prices jumped sharply on Monday, January 05, amid the geopolitical escalation between the US and Venezuela triggered by the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife from their house by the US military.
In Delhi, the price of 24-carat gold stood at Rs 1,37,550 per 10 grams, while 22k gold was available at Rs 1,26,100 per 10 grams. These rates do not include GST and making charges.
Silver was available at Rs 2,47,000 per kg in the spot market.
On MCX, gold future with expiry in February gained 1.12 per cent to Rs 1,37,281 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, silver futures with expiry in March zoomed almost 3 per cent to Rs 2,43,181 per kg.
