The Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake is one of the most anticipated games as players cannot wait to step into the shoes of Snake again. For many it’s considered the best of the MGS series, and it is coming back with massively updated visuals and gameplay. Fans are eager to see more, but, unfortunately, Konami has all but confirmed the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake won’t be at Gamescom 2024.
The start date for Gamescom 2024 is August 21st, so it isn’t too far away. It is set to have a record number of exhibitors, and we are all anticipating the Opening Night Live show that will be hosted by Geoff Keighley. ONL is the best part of the event as it’s where we get to see all of the trailers and gameplay demos for upcoming and unannounced games.
Some fans were hopeful that we would see Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake for the first time in awhile, but it unfortunately doesn’t seem to be happening. Konami will be at the event, but only to focus on one game.
It appears the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake won’t be at Gamescom 2024. Konami has confirmed they will be at the event to promote the Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card game, but that seems to be all they are willing to showcase.
Per Konami’s announcement post, the Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card game “will be part of the new ‘cards and boards’ area at Gamescom 2024… fans can visit the Yu-Gi-Oh boot in Hall 5.2… visitors will have the possibility to learn the card game with new 2-player starter set”.
Following the revelation that Konami will be part of Gamescom, Wccftech reached out to the Japanese studio to see if Metal Gear Solid 3 will be present. Unfortunately, the Japanese publisher’s PR agency stated they will be “focusing solely on the popular Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card game”.
This seems to confirm that there will be no Metal Gear Solid 3, nor will there be Silent Hill 2. Some may be surprised seeing as Silent Hill 2 is set to come out in less than two months, but there are rumors of a PlayStation Showcase in September, so, if true, it’s likely to be shown off during Sony’s event.
As for Metal Gear Solid 3, it’s possible it could resurface at the PlayStation Showcase, but this isn’t definite as reports suggest it has been internally delayed to 2025. An internal delay to next year hasn’t been confirmed, but the rumor comes from reliable leaker Billbil_kun via dealabs.
For more Metal Gear Solid news, the remake producer has said it would be “a dream” to work with Kojima again.
