Lidl give urgent alert to shoppers as item ‘unsafe to eat as it may contain metal’

    October 18, 20252 Mins Read

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an alert, saying that Lidl is recalling XXL Sondey Stroopwaffel with Caramel Flavour Filling and Butter

Shoppers who have purchased a Lidl sweet treat are being warned not to consume it as it may contain metal fragments. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an urgent alert, stating that Lidl is withdrawing XXL Sondey Stroopwaffel with Caramel Flavour Filling and Butter from shelves.

The product in question is the XXL Sondey Stroopwaffel with Caramel Flavour Filling and Butter, sold in 560g packages. Items with best before dates of November 21, 2025, December 2, 2025 or December 3, 2025 are affected.

The FSA said: “Lidl is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.

“If you have bought the above product do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For further information, please contact Lidl Customer Care on customer.care@lidl.co.uk or 0203 966 5566.”

    About product recalls and withdrawals

The FSA explained: “If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.”
