Metal Supermarkets is providing four students $2,500 as part of the supplier’s 2024 trade school scholarship program. The students, from Canada and the United States, are attending or plan to attend a post-secondary trade school with a goal of obtaining a career as trades professionals.
This year’s recipients are Alaina Myers from Hanover, Penn., Alexis Brown from Waxahachie, Texas, Miranda Crist from Fletcher, Ohio, and Wilson Williams from Regina, Sask.
Metal Supermarkets created the annual scholarship in response to the shortage of skilled trade workers in North America, with the aim of helping to shine a spotlight on the need for these workers. Including this year’s group, the company has awarded $30,000 since the program’s launch in 2022.
“It is our great honour to award this year’s scholarships to four passionate and talented students in the United States and Canada,” said Stephen Schober, president and CEO of Metal Supermarkets. “Very soon these standout students will join the workforce in valuable trade industries, and we are happy to help them as they complete their schooling. Metal Supermarkets remains committed to educating and spreading awareness about the opportunities provided by a career in the skilled trades. We’re pleased to support future generations of North America’s skilled trade workforce, and extend our sincere congratulations to Alaina, Alexis, Miranda and Wilson.”
