Eriez has manufactured its largest X8 Metal Detector to identify contaminants in packaging, plastics, recycling, and other processing applications.

The X8 Metal Detector line is designed to identify small ferrous, non-ferrous, and stainless steel contaminants. Standard features include multiple communication ports (USB and Ethernet); auto setup and product learning; eight fields of data recorded on a large flash drive; one-touch log reporting; an easy process of switching between product boundaries and rejection; and a high-pressure washdown design.

Eriez emphasizes that all its X8 systems are built to meet ‘rigorous’ performance standards, adding that they unlock ‘superb’ detection capabilities for various product sizes and industry applications.

The new detector is one of a pair. Manufactured at Eriez’s facility in Caerphilly, it features a 1,200 x 1,200 mm (47 x 47 in) aperture; this is hoped to maintain precision, sensitivity, and reliability while increasing the line’s detection capabilities.

Tom Pickwick, product specialist at Eriez-Europe, explains: “Whether a customer needs a standard compact unit or a large custom build, the X8 delivers the same uncompromising accuracy across the product range.

“Our global team is fully equipped to support every system in our comprehensive inspection portfolio.”

Back in September, Eriez launched its PrecisionGuard X8 Metal Detector. It is designed to combine contaminant detection with operator-friendly controls to improve purity and productivity across demanding processing environments.

In other news, Fortress Technology previously set out to demonstrate its Vyper Vision automated top and bottom label inspection solution on a Raptor Combination metal detector and checkweigher – a move set to detect and reject faulty labels, printing errors and poor-quality print in real time.

It has also worked with Solmaz Foods to halve processing and product waste costs by adding a fourth in-line Fortress Stealth pipeline metal detector to its production line.
