NDSU launches Peltier Institute to advance agricultural technology – InForum

    September 29, 20252 Mins Read

FARGO — North Dakota State University is taking another step toward agricultural innovation.

University President David Cook announced the launch of the Peltier Institute for Advancement in Agricultural Technology on Monday, Sept. 29.

The initiative will focus on students involved in areas such as robotics and supply chain management.

Through a $15 million grant from the Peltier family, 40 students will receive scholarships through the program. Many others will have opportunities to travel to different parts of the country to see real-world applications of supply chain management.

“The Peltier gift for the Peltier scholars to supply chain management funds their experiential learning. So they’re able to travel to be able to see cutting-edge technology that’s happening, whether it’s in Minot at the internal facility, or whether it’s the Port of Long Beach. So they’re able to travel around and see what’s happening,” said Kathryn Birkeland, dean of the NDSU College of Business.

The Peltier Institute will be housed in the university’s engineering complex.

Ryan McNamara joined WDAY as a reporter in late 2024. He is a native of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2024.

His time as a Husky included copious amounts of time spent at “The Herb” reporting on Husky hockey, or at Halenbeck Hall calling Husky basketball. He also spent two summers with the Northwoods League’s St. Cloud Rox. Along with his duties in news and sports, Ryan dons a headset for occasional play-by-play broadcasts for North Dakota and Minnesota high school sports.

When he’s away from the station, he’s most likely lifting, finding time to golf, or taking in as much college basketball as possible, in order to complete the elusive perfect March Madness bracket.
