Unreal Engine 5 and performance issues are a duo that sadly go hand in hand. After Mafia: The Old Country and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Metal Gear Solid Delta seems to be the latest game built on UE5 that has launched with performance problems.
Although things aren’t so bad for MGS Delta: Snake Eater because, at the time of writing this article, its Steam reviews are Very Positive. To make things better, an update is already out which fixes awkward bugs like the one that made Snake float mid-air, along with other crash fixes.
Patch 1.1.2 is currently live on Steam, and here is the list of fixes and improvements it brings:
- Resolved an issue where performing consecutive survival knife attacks to secure food could cause the game to crash under certain conditions.
- Fixed an issue where removing the Crocodile Cap from the Survival Viewer while equipped could cause the game to crash under certain conditions.
- Addressed crashes that could occur when collecting food near a hungry crocodile under certain conditions.
- Corrected an issue where transitioning from a roll into a crawl could cause the character model to float in mid-air.
- Fixed an issue where player movement could become restricted under certain conditions in areas where Intrusion View is used.
- Resolved an issue where the game could crash under certain conditions while in Radio Window.
What makes this patch so good is that not only did they make a post addressing the known issues and start work on a fix before the game’s release, but they also released a patch within 2 days. And these are just the first wave of fixes. Konami has also confirmed that they are working on other reported concerns.
However, it is important to note that this patch is mainly focused on fixing the bugs that caused crashes. As such, performance issues are yet to be dealt with. But if they keep releasing patches at the pace like they did with this one, the game should be in a much better state in no time!
