David Roach, the frontman and lead singer of the heavy metal band Junkyard, has died at 59 following a battle with cancer.
The band confirmed the news in an Instagram post Sunday. “After a courageous battle with cancer, David passed away peacefully last night at home, in the loving arms of his wife,” the post reads.
Roach had announced in June that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of skin cancer.

Two weeks before his death, Roach married his girlfriend, Jennifer, in a private ceremony attended by his bandmates, the band shared on Instagram.
In a tribute, Roach’s Junkyard bandmates described the singer as “a gifted artist, performer, songwriter, and singer—but above all, a devoted father, husband, and brother.”
Roach joined Junkyard in 1987 and found success after the band released their self-titled debut album through Geffen Records.
