Trenton Municipal Utilities (TMU) will begin flushing the city’s water distribution system on Friday, October 25th, 2024. The flushing will continue throughout the following week and is part of the semi-annual maintenance required for the water treatment process.
Crews will focus their efforts on the area east of Highway 65, flushing water lines from the highway to the eastern city limits. The process is essential for maintaining the quality of drinking water for residents. Flushing improves the overall cleanliness of the water system and helps to clear out any sediments that may have accumulated in the distribution pipes.
Residents in the affected areas may notice some temporary discoloration in their water supply during the flushing hours, which will take place from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. TMU advises residents to run their water for a brief period before using it, especially for activities such as laundry, to ensure the water is clear. Waiting until after the scheduled flushing hours is also recommended.
In addition to potential discoloration, residents may experience periods of low water pressure during the flushing. TMU assures the public that these inconveniences are temporary and are part of the process of maintaining a high-quality water supply for the community.
Anyone with questions regarding the flushing schedule or its impact is encouraged to contact the Trenton Water Treatment Plant at 660-359-3211 for more information.
