IIT Delhi has announced the launch of a one-year Online Post Graduate Diploma in Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology. The programme will be delivered through the institute’s Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART) and is aimed at preparing professionals to contribute to India’s target of 30 per cent EV adoption by 2030.
Course Designed for Whom?
IIT Delhi has designed this course for engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and working professionals. The diploma equips participants with both technical knowledge and practical skills in EV design, manufacturing, charging systems, and policy frameworks. Graduates of the programme will receive a Post Graduate Diploma from IIT Delhi and gain recognition as part of the institute’s alumni network.
What is the course Module?
The diploma follows a blended format, combining live online classes with on-campus immersion modules. These sessions will provide lab exposure, academic interaction, and access to IIT Delhi’s faculty. The curriculum covers a wide range of areas, including battery management systems, power electronics, power train design, charging infrastructure, safety systems, and the role of artificial intelligence in fault diagnostics. Participants will also engage in case studies, simulations, capstone projects, and semester-long research assignments under the supervision of IIT faculty members. According to the institute, these components will ensure that learning is both rigorous and industry-relevant.
Is the Course Industry Oriented?
The course will be delivered in partnership with Jaro Education, which will support accessibility across the country. Live interactive classes will be conducted by IIT Delhi faculty along with EV industry experts, ensuring a balance of academic depth and practical exposure. Well, the institute has claimed that the industry-focused projects are expected to prepare learners for real-world challenges in the rapidly growing EV sector.
What is the Eligibility Criteria?
The one-year diploma is targeted at working professionals who wish to upskill without taking a career break. Eligibility requires a Bachelor’s degree in electrical sciences or an equivalent qualification with relevant industry experience. Moreover, candidates holding a diploma in electrical sciences with a first-class record and at least three years of professional experience may also apply. Admissions will be based on academic merit and professional background.
