Gizmodo is seeking an experienced contributing technology editor to help drive our coverage of how innovation, money, culture, and power intersect across the tech industry.
This role will edit and write news reporting on the companies, trends, and personalities shaping the global tech economy. The emphasis of the role is on editing work, with some writing as needed.
You are a fit for this role if:
- You write and edit sharp, accessible stories about technology’s business side — from quarterly earnings and market trends to product strategy, layoffs, and regulation
- You have have a punchy writing voice and are familiar with Gizmodo’s general tone and subject areas
- You can assign and edit timely news hits and short analysis pieces that connect the dots for readers across companies like Apple, Google, OpenAI, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla
- You’re eager to collaborate with other editors and writers to ensure our coverage is fast, fair, and full of voice
- You consistently file clean copy and have experience editing others
- You have a keen news sense and can identify stories that will resonate with our audience
- You can exercise strong editorial judgment and have a strong grasp of media law and journalistic best practices
- You bring sharp angles and fresh framing to the day’s headlines, with a sense of humor and wit that matches Gizmodo’s style
- You are familiar with the major players and trends in the tech world
- You have the editorial sensibility to know when a story needs speed, when it needs depth, and when it needs both
