A luxurious mansion offering breathtaking views of The Shard is now up for grabs for one lucky raffle winner.

The £4.5 million property, located in Borough, London, used to be known as Britain’s most expensive council house. Now, the Grade II listed home could be yours for just £10, which allocates you 15 tickets in the Omaze draw.

The stunning mansion not only features five floors but is also situated close to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. The home also boasts an outdoor studio space, alongside an award-winning garden, designed by Chelsea Flower Show Gold winners.

On top of that, the townhouse includes four bedrooms and is great for Londoners who like to get out and about to places like the Tate Modern, Borough Market and South Bank. In 2013, the property was understood to be the UK’s priciest council house – expected to fetch £2.3million when put up for auction by Southwark Council.

Ten years later that record was taken by another council house in London which was put on the market for £3.5million. The building, built in 1820, was once owned by the brewer Courage and originally housed bosses from the nearby Anchor Brewery, which was demolished to make way for housing in the 1980s. But the property eventually became council accommodation in 1986 with Southwark councillors deciding the property was too lucrative not to sell off when it became vacant.

The house is steeped in history, including a Take Courage “ghost sign” on one side of the brick exterior, which gives a nod to its heritage as part of the former Anchor Brewery. If the raffle winner decided to rent it out, local estate agents estimate that the property could achieve a long-term rental value of between £8,000 – £10,000 per month.

The eventual winner will be greeted by two entrances that lead to a Bisazza-tiled ground floor, with a hand built, bespoke eat-in kitchen featuring high-end appliances such as a Rangemaster cooker, integrated fridge/freezer and instant boiling water tap.

The interior retains many original period features, married with modern design aspects such as a steel-framed Sun Room extension offering views of the stunning garden. There is a formal dining room with sculptural lighting and open doorways along with original sash windows that provide an abundance of sunlight in the morning – and a warm golden glow in the evening.

On the first floor there is a traditional Georgian reception room, plus another family lounge. Three bedrooms are located on the upper floors offering spectacular views of London’s skyline, with a fourth bedroom found on the lower ground floor. The main bedroom has a feature fireplace and an innovatively designed bathroom with a rainfall shower. Another bedroom has a play space mezzanine, while another guest bedroom has a stylish en suite bathroom.

Outside, there is a fire pit which doubles as a barbecue, and subtle accent lighting which adds to the evening ambiance. As well as making its Grand Prize Winner a multimillionaire, the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, London, will raise £1million for The King’s Trust. The house comes mortgage free, with all stamp duty and legal fees covered.

James Oakes, President of Omaze, said: “By offering this amazing property in London, plus £250,000 in cash, Omaze gives people the chance to win a life-changing prize, whilst also raising money for charities. The eventual winner is free to decide what they want to do with the house. They can move in and not have to worry about any immediate costs, thanks to the £250,000 settling in money; they can rent it out, for additional income; or they can sell up and cash in to become a multimillionaire – the choice is entirely theirs.”

In addition to winning the Grand Prize, people who enter online by midnight on April 13 ( or April 15 by post) are also in with the chance of winning an Early Bird Prize of £500,000 in cash. Draw entries for the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, London, are available now by visiting here.
