HGTV Postpones Property Brothers Shows Amid Cancellation Drama

    July 11, 20254 Mins Read

Not even Property Brothers stars Drew and Jonathan Scott are immune to the scheduling changes taking place at HGTV amid the network’s cancellation drama.

Viewers were alerted to a premiere change when an Instagram Story from HGTV earlier this week announced that the July 10 launch of Drew and Jonathan’s new show Chasing the West has been pushed back several weeks to July 30, according to TV Insider.

Meanwhile, an updated press release revealed that the second season of Don’t Hate Your House With the Property Brothers has been delayed from July 30 to “later this year.” While the newest season of the Property Brothers’ hit series Celebrity IOU aired as usual on Wednesday, July 9, this has caused fans to be concerned about the three upcoming shows Drew and Jonathan, both 47, are expected to have on HGTV.

Drew and Jonathan have not yet addressed the scheduling changes. The shakeup comes as HGTV is under fire for canceling five shows: Battle on the Beach, Farmhouse Fixer, Married to Real Estate, Bargain Block and Izzy Does It.

HGTV’s website, however, shared a page on Thursday, July 10, that highlighted shows currently seeking participants. There are 11 shows on the page, suggesting those programs will be returning for further seasons. The list includes a new Property Brothers show, a new season of Christina on the Coast, a third season of Down Home Fab With Chelsea and Cole DeBoer, another season of My Lottery Dream Home and House Hunters.

The network also announced a new series with Bobby Berk following his time on Queer Eye. Berk, 43, will star in Junk or Jackpot? later this year, which is produced by John Cena. The six-episode season will follow Berk as he is tasked with helping homeowners decide whether to keep their unique collections — including superhero figurines or rare puppets and dolls — or sell them in order to renovate their outdated homes.

Other surprising HGTV news includes an update on why Rehab Addict was suddenly pulled off the air. Host Nicole Curtis clarified that it was actually her choice to hit pause on her show, which caused it to be replaced with new programming for now.

2025 has been brutal when it comes to our favorite TV shows getting canceled. Netflix cut ties with Girls5eva after saving it from cancellation. The musical comedy initially premiered on Peacock in 2021 and followed four women who were part of a girl group. After becoming a one-hit-wonder, the former friends reunited later in life […]

“I made the executive decision to shelf the rest of our new shows until fall. I appreciate your support and understanding for the late notice,” Curtis, 48, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, July 8. “It’s just a lot of hours (my hours) to get a show on air and we (my family + me) thought – why are we giving up summer when we have the ability to do this in the fall?”

Rehab Addict‘s latest season premiered on June 24 before being replaced by My Lottery Dream Home after only two episodes.

“Thank you to the powers that be at HGTV that were receptive to our idea. … Without a doubt, I, truly, am beyond happy with this decision as I just spent the day with a phone that was dead and had no worries about it,” Curtis continued. “They are airing Lottery Dream Home in my place.”

She concluded: “Fun fact, [Lottery Dream Home host] David Bromstad was my pregnancy beach buddy as we were filming and living next to each other in Gulf Shores, Alabama, for Beach Flip. … So, don’t be spreading rumors that he replaced me — I chose it.”
