Escape to the Country buyers stunned as host shares ‘surprise’ feature | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

    March 26, 20253 Mins Read

Viewers of Escape to the Country were treated to a jaw-dropping moment when a buyer exclaimed “oh wow” upon discovering a “hidden” feature in a property on Wednesday (March 26).

On today’s episode of the popular BBC show, presenter Briony May Williams guided newly-engaged Jack and Anna, who had left their separate city flats in St Albans in pursuit of a rural dream in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.

With an impressive budget of £850,000, the couple were hunting for a detached home full of character, boasting at least four bedrooms.

They also sought a practical utility room, an expansive kitchen, and a dog-friendly garden for their beloved dog, Dexter. Additionally, the ideal setting would be on the fringe of a village that includes a local pub.

Starting their hunt in Oakley, a charming village teeming with just over a thousand residents, the area offered them wide-open spaces and even featured a dog-friendly pub embraced by a tight-knit community, reports Surrey Live.

Upon reaching a Victorian house nestled at the heart of Oakley, Jack and Anna were taken with the residence’s graceful appearance, complete with a sizable kitchen, three reception areas, and a generous garden space.

But it was inside the main bedroom where Briony prepared to unveil her “little surprise” promising something rather extraordinary.

With a playful nudge, she encouraged the buyers to explore what appeared to be simply a shower area, saying: “Now, this en suite is something very special. So, you think it’s just a shower in there, just go and have a little look.”

Upon exploring the en suite, the buyers were taken aback to find the main bathroom positioned just behind the bedroom.

Jack couldn’t hide his delight, exclaiming, “Oh wow, it’s a huge bathroom. This is very clever to build the bathroom behind the bedroom,” while Anna appreciated the “nice dressing area” and the “big window”.

“That’s a beautiful bathroom,” Jack praised, as he stepped out from the en suite.

Having viewed the rest of the home, with a price tag of £850,000, Anna was able to envisage hosting family gatherings there, stating she could “completely see ourselves hosting family here”.

Jack pointed out the undeniable potential within each room, saying, “Every room has got potential. To have four really good sized bedrooms is a massive plus… Clearly the village is of the right kind of size, which is small and intimate.”

Yet despite their enchantment with the house, the couple ultimately refrained from placing an offer. Still, their interest was piqued enough to arrange another visit for the second property in Wingrave, as well as the mystery house located in Yardley Gobion.

Escape to the Country airs weekdays at 3pm on BBC One.
