Coffee shop and Japanese restaurant to open at ONE Station Hill

    October 21, 20242 Mins Read

A coffee shop and a Japanese restaurant are to open in the New Year at Station Hill.

London-based coffee chain Notes has signed a 10-year lease on the ground floor at ONE Station Hill, its first venture outside the capital, while Kawaii has signed a 15-year lease in one of the restaurant units in the same building.

Notes, which will be at the front of the building facing the station, will offer brunches and small dishes in the evening.  It will also offer wines and cocktails and specialises in seasonal food.

Kawaii aims to create a contemporary dining space, along with outdoor seating. It is a  member of the local Osaka brand which has a restaurant in The Oracle.

Together with Siren Brew’s RG1 Bar, the lettings mean around 40 per cent of the lettable retail and leisure spaces within the development is now let.

Evan Reynolds, development director for the Lincoln Property Company, said: “Since the outset of Station Hill, our approach to retail leasing has been twofold: first, to target local heroes, ensuring that Station Hill celebrates Reading and avoids becoming just another identikit development filled with national chains; and second, to attract outstanding independents from London to Reading.

“These two new leases exemplify that strategy and will form the cornerstone to our placemaking and events strategy, which we are excited to roll out in 2025.”

In a joint statement Robert Robinson and Fabio Ferreira, co-founders of Notes, said: “We are thrilled to bring our single-origin specialty coffee to Reading. We have been planning to expand outside of London, and Station Hill offers a unique blend of a travel hub, high-spec offices, and a vibrant local community.

“We are excited to be at the heart of this thriving area – a place to enjoy brunch, high-quality coffee, and unwind after work.”
