    City of Columbia giving away trees to property owners

    COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The City of Columbia is giving away shade trees to interested property owners in collaboration with Columbia Green.

    The city says owners can plant a tree to help relieve extreme heat in the city and the city will deliver the tree for free during the fall planting season.

    Any owner who wants a tree, can go to the free educational lunch on Saturday, July 13, at 12 p.m. in the Benedict College Campus Center (1616 Oak Street, Historic Waverly Neighborhood).

    To sign up for the event call 803-545-3860. Also, call the same number before August 15, 2024, if you are not able to make the lunch so you can get your free tree.
