Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas and his actor brothers, twins Scott and Ryan, grilled their mum about her love life on their podcast At Home With The Thomas Bros
Ryan Thomas‘ mum Gail Waring has opened up about being “wooed” on a dating app by a “silver-haired” catfish. The mother-of-three, who is in her 70s, has a close relationship with her son Coronation Street star Ryan, 41, and his brothers, twins Scott and Adam, 37.
But single Gail was hoping to find someone to spend time with, turning to dating apps to potentially meet a man. After spotting someone she liked, trained nurse Gail started chatting, and was instantly showered with compliments by the unnamed man.
Telling the lads on their podcast, At Home With The Thomas Bros, Gail explained that over 24 hours she was wooed by the man, before Googling his profile picture. It was then she made the discovery that the image was that of a male model.

In the podcast, Scott asks Gail: “Didn’t you try a couple of dating apps but you gave up on the end didn’t you?” Gail explained why she decided to ditch the apps, saying: “Oh no I got catfished.
“These guys put pictures of male models on in America and he was wooing me for about 24 hours with this picture of this male model – a silver-haired gorgeous looking fella.” She went on: “He was saying ‘you’re my princess and all that’ and then I Googled his picture and it was a male model. Anyway, I was totally catfished.”
Scott asked his mum how she was wooed and what the catfish was saying, with Gail explaining: “He was saying, ‘do you love flowers my princess? I’ll shower you with flowers.’ I thought, this is too good to be true.”
When asked by former Love Island contestant Scott if she’s ready to “get back in the mix now,” Gail says she wasn’t planning to. The grandmother joked that between her three sons she though they could’ve found her someone.
Scott quipped: “I can’t even get myself a girlfriend,” before Ryan adds: “Do you think I’m going to go around and say, ‘do you want to take my mum out for a drink and back to your house?'”
Gail is the grandmother of Ryan and his ex Tina O’Brien’s daughter Scarlett, who has become a regular feature on their social media accounts. But fans were quick to judge a recent video, which saw her dancing with her dad and uncle Scott on TikTok, wearing a crop top and low-rise trousers.
As they dance along to I Say a Little Prayer, TikTok users commented on the 16-year-old’s outfit, with some of them accusing the light-hearted video of being “inappropriate”. Others hit back saying she was just having fun – and urged people to leave her and the family alone.
One of the video’s critics said: “Immediately thought this was wrong,” while another claimed: “If I was her mother I’d be really concerned about these videos they make just so the men can stay relevant.”
But others said the video was harmless and urged people to “get a grip.” One said: “Scarlett looks pretty and dresses like most her age. If anyone sees a problem with it, they are the one with the problem.” Another said: “I love the clothes you are wearing …please ignore the trolls.” A third added: “Get a grip people….keep doing what you’re doing and be the amazing people you are.”
The videos, which also feature Scarlett’s uncle Adam, have had millions of views. The account boasts more than half a million followers.
