Field Of Gold is closer to a return to the racecourse after resuming cantering in Newmarket over the weekend.
The dual Group 1 winner is well on the way to making a full recovery from being found lame behind after finishing only fourth behind his pacemaker Qirat in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood last month.
The son of Kingman was back at the head of the John and Thady Gosden team on Monday morning when he enjoyed one canter on Warren Hill under his regular rider Luke Catton.
It his hoped Juddmonte’s colt can return to his usual routine of two canters a day later in the week ahead of a possible return to action in the autumn when he holds an entry in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Sakes at Ascot on October 18, for which he is 5-1 favourite.

John Gosden said: “Field Of Gold’s condition has improved and he’s back doing one canter and seems happy in himself.
“The residual filling that he had in a joint has cleared up and hopefully we have a clear run with him into the autumn.”
Prior to his Goodwood disappointment, Field Of Gold had lit up the Flat season with scintillating wins in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. He was sent off at 1-3 for the hat-trick at Goodwood when he was taking on older horses for the first time.
Going forward, Juddmonte’s racing manager Barry Mahon revealed there will be no decision on whether Field Of Gold stays in training in 2026 until the end of the season.
He said: “The owners will decide at the end of the season whether Field Of Gold stays in training or not.”
In 2023, Juddmonte retired 2,000 Guineas winner Chaldean at the end of his three-year-old career to stand alongside his sire Frankel at Banstead Manor Stud, where Field of Gold’s sire Kingman is also in residence.
