NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A legend in the investigative journalism world and good friend of WSMV was honored Thursday night.
Nancy Amons spent more than three decades reporting at WSMV. She was honored at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Midsouth Silver Circle Celebration for her work as an investigative journalist.
She was introduced at the award ceremony by WSMV Chief Investigator Jeremy Finley.
“For all of us who are better journalists for just knowing her and celebrate the woman whose career is best summed up by this t-shirt she just bought, ‘Go ahead, underestimate me, that‘ll be fun,’” Finely said.
Amons made national headlines asking tough questions of world leaders and exposing corruption in court.
“I worked as an investigative journalist for 30 plus years, but my skills failed badly in this case, because I didn’t see this coming. I had no idea this was on the radar,” Amons said.
Amons, a National Edward R. Murrow Award winner, was inducted into the NATAS “Silver Circle” for her impactful work.
“I didn’t feel this was a job,” said Amons. “I felt it was my purpose.”
