Sir Michael Caine, 92, makes ANOTHER U-turn on retirement – two years after quitting Hollywood

SIR Michael Caine is in talks to make a major U-turn on retirement – two years after saying goodbye to Hollywood.

The 92-year-old has starred in numerous successful films across several decades – and originally retired from the screen in 2023.

Now film fans could see the beloved actor grace the big screen once more per new reports.

According to Variety, Sir Michael is in talks to reunite with Vin Diesel in a The Last Witch Hunter sequel.

It would see him return as priestly advisor Dolan – a role Sir Michael originated in the 2015 original film.

Vin, 58, is already confirmed to return as lead character, immortal warrior Kaulder.

Sir Michael previously explained his decision came after he concluded that “you don’t have leading men at 90.”

It followed his film The Great Escaper where he played real-life World War Two veteran Bernie Jordan who escaped from a care home to attend D-Day celebrations in France.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “I keep saying I’m going to retire. Well I am now.

“I’ve figured, I’ve had a picture where I’ve played the lead and had incredible reviews… What am I going to do that will beat this?”

He continued: “The only parts I’m liable to get now are 90-year-old men. Or maybe 85.

“They’re not going to be the lead.

“You don’t have leading men at 90, you’re going to have young handsome boys and girls. So I thought, I might as well leave with all this.”

Sir Michael’s stellar career spans seven decades and his extensive filmography includes hit films such as Zulu and The Italian Job.

He won Oscars for the 1986 film Hannah and Her Sisters and The Cider House Rules in 1999, both of them as best supporting actor.

A year after announcing his retirement, Sir Michael released a book titled Don’t Look Back, You’ll Trip Over: My Guide to Life.

He said at the time: “I’m always asked questions—by fans, by other actors and friends, by my grandchildren.

“They want to know how I’ve lasted so long, how I handle fame, why I chose to do some of my films, which films and actors I like best and so forth.

“They also want to know what makes me tick, what makes me get up in the morning in my 90s, and whether I’ll ever retire (The answer to that one is ‘No!’).

“Over a long life, I’ve learnt a lot and had the opportunity to reflect. I’ve seen a new generation grow up, among them my own grandchildren, facing the world with all its challenges and problems.

“I hope they’ll find Don’t Look Back, You’ll Trip Over: My Guide to Life helps them to be optimistic—and shows that anyone can blow the bloody doors off.”
