Senate Ag Committee Ranking Member says research investments needed
The ranking member of the U.S. Senate Ag Committee says that without investments in research and technology, American agriculture risks losing its advantage over the rest of the world.
Arkansas’ John Boozman tells Brownfield, “In the framework that we laid out, and I believe it was the same in the House framework, we actually double the spending for research.”
He says agriculture continues to face labor challenges, and technology is part of the solution. “Coming up with new technology that reduces the need for labor,” he says. “There’s so many things that are so important as we go full.”
But, Boozman says, the question remains is how Congress will pay for it. And, he says, “We’re working hard to figure that out.”While the U.S. House has passed its farm bill out of Committee, the Senate has yet to debate its version.
