Harrison Fordisn’t going anywhere — at least not when it comes to his acting career.

The 83-year-old screen legend recently made it clear in an interview with Variety shared on Wednesday, July 30, that retirement isn’t part of his long-term plan.

When asked if he had any intentions of stepping away from the spotlight, Ford gave a simple answer: “No.” He went on to explain that one of the things that drew him to acting in the first place was its longevity. “That’s one of the things I thought was attractive about the job of an actor, was that they need old people, too, to play old people’s parts.”

Ford, whose career spans more than five decades, has become synonymous with some of the most iconic roles in film history. From Han Solo in Star Wars to Indiana Jones and Rick Deckard in Blade Runner, his performances have defined generations of cinema. More recently, he took on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thaddeus Ross and Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World earlier this year.

Throughout his celebrated career, Ford’s been nominated for an Academy Award and won a British Academy Film Award, along with an Emmy, two Screen Actors Guild awards, and five Golden Globes.

Elsewhere in the interview, the actor reflected on his time filming the original Star Wars trilogy, sharing memories of his late co-star Carrie Fisher. “I had a special relationship with both of them. Carrie had a very inspired wit and very special manner,” Ford said of Fisher and Mark Hamill. “She’s also very smart, very funny. Both of them were dear friends — are dear friends.” Fisher, who played Princess Leia, died in 2016 at age 60.

It’s clear that Ford’s dedication to his craft hasn’t wavered. And as far as he’s concerned, he’s still got roles to play — and no plans to stop.
