AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce (AMCC) President/CEO Sue Parr is retiring, with Angie Cox taking over as President/CEO in mid-August.
Chairman Dennis Trotter made the announcement at the Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, July 23.
“The Executive Committee of the Chamber, which also served as the selection committee for a new President, was unanimous in its promotion of Angie as the incoming President and as we worked with Sue and her retirement transition to ensure her hard work over many decades will be honored yet serve as a strong foundation for the many new and exciting times to come under Angie’s leadership,” said Trotter. “We can’t thank Sue enough for her leadership in expanding the reach of the Chamber in all areas and congratulate her on an outstanding career at the AMCC!”
Cox has served as the Executive Vice President of AMCC since 2021. She is a Georgia Certified Chamber Executive, with responsibilities including management of membership development, member programming and seasonal home rental through the Chamber’s Masters Housing Bureau.
Parr plans to assist in the leadership transition by consulting on behalf of the Chamber, according to a press release.
Parr has been with AMCC since 2005 and has overseen the Chamber’s growth since. Last year, she was awarded the 2023 Legacy Award of the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.
