FinTech Wales Expands Team with Two New Appointments

    October 24, 20243 Mins Read

FinTech Wales, the independent membership association and champion of the FinTech and Financial Services industry in Wales, has strengthened its team with the creation of two new key roles at its Cardiff City Centre office.

Rhys Griffiths has joined FinTech Wales as a Relationship Manager, while Paula Domingo Pellon takes on the role of Operations Assistant, providing essential support across the organisation’s core operations. These new appointments will bolster member engagement, foster skills development within the sector, and support Welsh fintechs in building a robust talent pipeline.

Rhys brings a wealth of experience to the role, especially in relationship building in Higher Education. Prior to joining the FinTech Wales team, Rhys held similar roles in The Open University, The University of South Wales, and Agored Cymru.

On his appointment, Rhys said: “With a background in skills development and employer partnerships, I really enjoy connecting with people and businesses. My previous roles as Relationship Manager with other Welsh institutes have given me a good understanding of the Welsh business landscape, and I’m excited to bring this experience to the fintech sector. I’m keen to build on the great work already done in this area and explore how FinTech Wales can help support its members to attract, develop, and retain top talent.”

Paula, a highly experienced administrator, will support office management and events coordination. On her new role, she said: “I am excited to join FinTech Wales and work closely with our members to support their growth. As someone with a keen interest in the tech sector, I look forward to contributing to the success of the Welsh fintech ecosystem.”

Sarah Kocianski, CEO of FinTech Wales, said on the team’s expansion: “I am pleased to welcome Rhys and Paula to FinTech Wales. Thanks to Rhys’ experience working with the skills and startup ecosystems in Wales, he will bring significant insight and knowledge into the team. Meanwhile, Paula will provide invaluable support to FinTech Wales and its members.

“With Rhys and Paula joining us, we have expanded the team’s capacity significantly. The growth of the team enables us to further engage and support the Welsh fintech ecosystem, and focus on providing even more value to our members.”

Since 2019, FinTech Wales has experienced significant growth, now representing over 150 members. The organisation’s work is built around four key pillars: skills and talent development, fostering a thriving ecosystem and community, facilitating funding and investment opportunities, and promoting Wales as a leading destination for fintech and financial organisations.
