“Official cryptocurrency wallet” announced by Trump: three sons disagree

    June 3, 20253 Mins Read

Three of Donald Trump’s sons have reacted sharply to the announcement by one of their father’s business partners that an official cryptocurrency wallet for the US president is to be published. Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and, unusually, even Barron Trump declared within minutes on the short messaging service X on Tuesday that their family has nothing to do with the application, which is intended for buying and selling cryptocurrency. This is a rather chaotic start for the latest cryptocurrency project with links to Donald Trump, as those responsible have so far not backed down and continue to advertise with the attractive name. Trump himself has not yet commented.

    Trump family plans own wallet

The “Official $TRUMP Wallet” was made public in advance by cryptocurrency expert Molly White. The New York Times later confirmed that Bill Zanker, one of Trump’s business partners who had already launched the memecoin that exploded in price around the time of the US president’s inauguration, was behind it. According to White, a company with close ties to the Trump organization is involved in the new wallet. However, the three sons deny this and Donald Trump Jr. also hints at why in his article: Trump’s family wants to publish its cryptocurrency wallet. Eric Trump told the New York Times that his family would take legal action against the other wallet. An account for the new wallet on the short messaging service X has already been blocked.

The dispute over the cryptocurrency wallet once again highlights the extent to which his family, his companies, and his business partners are active in the cryptocurrency industry using his name and want to expand their involvement even further despite all the criticism. Trump has long been accused of linking his office to economic interests, and there has already been talk of corruption in the context of individual actions. US Senator Chris Murphy of the Democrats, for example, described an exclusive dinner hosted by Donald Trump with the people who hold most of his crypto coins as “the most brazen and corrupt thing any president has ever done”.
