But she’s now agreed to plead guilty to a federal criminal tax charge, and will face up to three years in federal prison as a result.
Iris, 35, is the former girlfriend of cryptocurrency fraudster Iza, who dubbed himself “The Godfather.”
She’s charged in a single-count information with subscribing to a false tax return.
And the Justice Department announced on Tuesday March 4 that she had failed to report more than $2.6 million (£2,004,886) in ill-gotten gains, obtained via her then-boyfriend’s criminal activities.
A report from the United States Attorney’s Office reads: “Au admitted in her plea agreement that she transferred more than $2.6 million from these various accounts to her personal bank accounts during the period 2020 through 2023, income that she willfully failed to report to the IRS on her federal tax returns.
“After pleading guilty, Au will face up to three years in federal prison.”
Iris’ ex-boyfriend appeared before a federal judge on January 30, and pleaded guilty to a first superseding information charging him with conspiracy against rights, wire fraud, and tax evasion.
He has been in federal custody since September 2024, and IRS Criminal Investigation and the FBI are investigating the matter.
The report continues: “Iza engaged active Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) deputies to provide private security for him and caused the deputies, among other things, to obtain court-authorized search warrants and confidential law enforcement information targeting people with whom Iza had financial and personal disputes.
“At Iza’s direction, Au created shell corporations and opened bank accounts in the names of those entities.
“She then used the illicit funds placed into those accounts to pay approximately $1 million to the deputies, mostly in cash, purchase or lease luxury real estate, cars, jewellery, and clothing, pay for recreational activity for Iza and herself valued at nearly $10 million, and acquire approximately $16 million in cryptocurrency for Iza.”
It comes just a few weeks after Love Island winner Davide paid tribute to the new love in his life, Iris.
The couple often post insights into their relationship on social media, and are regularly seen together enjoying romantic trips abroad.
In a Valentine’s Day tribute to his girlfriend last month, Davide wrote: “Happy Valentine’s Day to the most romantic woman I’ve ever met. Since being with you, I learned what a ‘monthsary’ is.
“You’re the most kind and genuine person. We were supposed to meet as friends, but from that first ‘friendly date,’ we’ve been inseparable.
“I loved that you didn’t know who I was. You love deeply because you’ve been through a lot and that made me want to protect you.
“Thank you for believing in me, for bringing out my best and for being someone who pushes me to grow.
“True love is wonderful because it doesn’t destroy you. I know we met for a reason and I’m glad we’re healing each other. We don’t have to be together—we choose each other every day. To us.”
