Gurugram: Gurugram police have arrested a cyber fraudster from Chennai airport while he was attempting to flee to Egypt after allegedly converting fraudulently obtained money into cryptocurrency, officials said on Saturday.
A woman had lodged a complaint on January 31, stating that fraudsters posing as government officials had duped her, police said.

Victim threatened with imprisonment
The accused allegedly threatened the woman with imprisonment, claiming her mobile number was linked to illegal activities. Following her complaint, an FIR was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station (West), they added.
Key accused arrested at Chennai airport
Several arrests had been made earlier in connection with the case. On Wednesday, police apprehended Ahamad Nisham (25), a native of Malappuram, Kerala, at Chennai airport.
According to a police officer, Nisham converted the defrauded amount into cryptocurrency in exchange for Rs 10,000. He had been absconding and was attempting to evade arrest by fleeing to Egypt.
Ongoing investigation
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Priyanshu Dewan stated that Nisham was caught before he could escape and is currently being questioned.
