It’s been a busy old time if you’re a Minecraft fan. Simply keeping up with all the innovations and new content arriving as part of Mounts of Mayhem is exhausting enough, let alone actually testing them before they’re properly unleashed on the best sandbox game around. While I thought Mojang was done, it looks like it has a final addition – horses are getting Netherite armor.
That’s right, it’s not just your own character that can benefit from the highest tier of armor Minecraft has to offer. Arriving as the final Mounts of Mayhem testing moment, Mojang is letting you craft Netherite-tier armor for your trusty steeds as well. Previously, the best armor you could give a horse was Diamond, so if you’ve got the ingots and regularly ride your stallion into battle with hostile mobs, this is an upgrade you should definitely consider.
“Your horses have always been mighty, but now they’re going to be able to withstand even more mayhem with their brand new Netherite armor!” Mojang says in a new announcement post. “As we all know, Netherite is not only great for protection, but it is also very, very cool. Just ask the lava it can withstand! As one of the most metal metals Minecraft has to offer, it is only fitting that mayhem-loving mounts can don this awesome armor!”
The Netherite horse armor arrives after a flurry of new features over the last few weeks. From the deadly, heavily buffed spear weapon, to new mounts and mobs like the nautilus, the camel husk, and the parched, to making all mounts able to swim cross water, this is all snowballing into a truly huge offering. With the Minecraft Mounts and Mayhem release date anticipated to arrive before the end of the year, it won’t be long until all of these additions hit the main versions of the game.
