Ukraine opens 17 new markets for agricultural exports – food safety agency

    October 22, 20252 Mins Read

Since the beginning of 2025, Ukraine has opened 17 new markets for agricultural exports, surpassing its initial target of 15.

That is according to Serhii Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“In 2025, we planned to open 15 new export markets for agricultural products. Today, Ukraine has already opened 17, exceeding the goal set by our government,” Tkachuk stated.

This year, Ukrainian producers gained access to 11 new export destinations for 17 different categories of agri-food goods.

Among the newly opened markets: Albania will import food-grade eggs; the Eurasian Economic Union approved non-food animal raw materials for feed production; Georgia opened its market to composite products containing poultry meat and dairy ingredients; Canada now allows imports of table eggs and apples.

China granted access for marine mammals, wild-caught aquatic products, and peas. Kuwait opened its market to processed food products, while Malaysia approved dairy and egg-based goods. Moldova allowed imports of non-human-consumption dairy products and processed pet food. Oman opened its market to poultry meat and by-products. Turkey will receive canned pet food, and Chile approved meat-and-bone meal, feather meal, and certain types of animal fats.

Tkachuk noted that active negotiations are ongoing in several other directions, with three additional export positions expected to be finalized by year-end. He also highlighted recent presentations by Ukrainian producers in the United States, showcasing over 20 product categories including snacks, bottled water, and confectionery. Ukrainian wine entered the U.S. market last year, and further progress is anticipated.

Ukraine has significantly accelerated its market-opening processes. What previously took up to five years can now be completed in one to one and a half years, Tkachuk added.

The Food Safety Agency, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ukrainian businesses, is also intensifying efforts in African markets, supported by the opening of new diplomatic missions.

As of October 2025, Ukraine has access to 381 agricultural export destinations, up from 364 in the previous year.
