An Army vehicle came under fire from suspected terrorists in a forward village in the Sunderbani sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri on Wednesday.
There were no immediate reports of any casualties in the brief firing near Phal village, officials said, according to PTI.
The officials added that the terrorists, believed to be hiding in a forest, ambushed the Army vehicle — considered a traditional infiltration route for militants.
The troops returned fire while reinforcements were rushed to neutralise the terrorists, the officials said.
Senior officials of the SSP rank rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
According to the officials, around three rounds were fired on the Army vehicle of the 09 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, News18 reported.
The Army has launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
