Konami recently announced that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has now sold over one million copies, including sales from all platforms.
To be exact, Konami announced that the Snake Eater remake has surpassed one million units sold worldwide across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam). What makes this even more impressive is the fact that the game sold 1 million copies based on data taken on August 28, meaning it got this sales record in just one day.
The game’s sales record shows just how popular Metal Gear continues to be, even though it has been a decade since the last mainline series entry (not counting the Metal Gear Survive spin-off). For fans who grew up playing the Metal Gear games though, this success shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, especially given that Snake Eater is one of the most beloved games of the PS2 era. There’s also the fact that the remake modernizes the game’s visuals, all while keeping the core gameplay intact.
To put things into perspective, the Silent Hill 2 Remake sold over one million units in four days, meaning Snake Eater got to the same milestone much faster. Thanks to this game’s success, it’s likely that we’ll get more Metal Gear projects in the future, potentially even more remakes of the original titles. A brand-new title is probably out of the cards though, especially considering that Hideo Kojima has given no indication that he’s ever going back to his iconic stealth action series.
