JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Scoular recently held a ribbon-cutting for the expansion of its plant in Jerome. Andy Hohwieler explained, “This year marks our 25th year anniversary of being in the Magic Valley, and it is something that we are particularly excited about.”
According to Hohwieler, the product group manager, this upgrade will benefit local farmers. “We do a lot of work with local farmers, bringing in their wheat, corn, and barley. This will be another option to value and to locally produced bushel of grain, and the turn around and sell that back to the dairy men and feed lock customers”
Hohwieler noted this expansion aims to meet the growing demands of surrounding dairy and beef producers.
“This project done by Scoular is really addressing where we see the market going, both in extra need for products and also the new types of services and products this facility will do”
The grain bins hold more than 1 million bushels of grain, and once production starts, the facility will create finished pelleted feeds, flaked corn and barley. All of which are used to feed livestock. As construction is nearing the end, they are eager to start soon.
“This has been going really well since the ribbon cutting, we’re on time, and the teams are working really hard to get us to production by November first”
Scoular plans to produce up to 20,000 tons of product a week.
