Russia’s wheat exports in current agricultural season may decrease to 40-41 mln tons – Business & Economy

    March 5, 20252 Mins Read

MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. Wheat exports from Russia in the current agricultural season (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) may decrease to 40-41 million tons, while the quota for its export will be fulfilled by no more than 66%, the analytical center of Rusagrotrans told TASS.

According to updated data, in February, Russia exported about 1.95 mln tons of wheat, which was a record low for this month over the past five years.

However, according to the forecast, exports in March will also decrease, since the volume of applications in deep-sea ports, which usually account for about 80% of all exports, is less than 1 million tons, the analytical center says.

“Maintaining the current pace allows for a situation where wheat exports by the end of the 2024/2025 season (taking into account exports to the EAEU countries) may fall to 40-41 million tons (the previous forecast was 42 million tons), and within the quota of 10.6 million tons from mid-February to June 2025, no more than 7 million tons or 66% of the quota can be exported,” the report says.

The volume of wheat exports in March is estimated at 1.5-1.6 million tons, which is a record low in four years.

“The main reasons for the decline are sharply negative returns for exporters amid persistently high supply prices within the country and the resumption of a decline in wheat prices on the foreign market,” the analytical center says.

Earlier, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut said at the All-Russian Agronomic Conference that grain exports from Russia following the results of the current agricultural season (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) could amount to about 57 million tons.

Following the results of last season, Russia exported 72 million tons of grain, including 54.1 million tons of wheat.
