    October 22, 20242 Mins Read

CHICO, Calif. — Nominations for the 2025 Common Threads North (CTN) Award are currently being accepted and are due by Nov. 15. The award recognizes women in agriculture who are making a difference in their communities through philanthropy and service above and beyond their job responsibilities, according to Common Thread North.

Common Threads North said it seeks to honor individuals whose contribution of time, energy and resources enhance the lives of all around them.

CTN is a 501(c)3 nonprofit program of the Butte Agriculture Foundation and was started by the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation, California Women in Agriculture, nine county Farm Bureaus and the UC Davis College of Agriculture and Environmental Science in 2003.

Over the years, enriched by partnerships with the California Foundation for Agriculture In The Classroom, California State University Chico, Center for Land-Based Learning and several Resource Conservation Districts. CTN said its program has grown to be one of the most prestigious and meaningful distinctions in the agricultural community.

Honorees have included women from all walks of life, from university professors to bankers, directors of government agencies and nonprofits, community volunteers and entrepreneurs, with California agriculture the common thread that connects them all. 2024 award recipients included,Sue Knox of Tehama County, Kelli Evans, of Sutter County, Terry Dereniuk of Lake County, Carol Dobbas of Sierra County, Colleen Cecil from Glenn County and Robin Flournoy of Placer County who passed away in March according to Common Thread North.

Nominations must be women from California counties north of the southern line created by Santa Cruz, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties.

CTN said a panel of Common Threads North partner representatives will select women who have demonstrated extraordinary participation in their community by giving their time, expertise and other contributions. The recipients will be recognized at an awards ceremony on April 2, 2025 at the California Agriculture Museum in Woodland.
